Child Safety Guidelines

Safeguarding children in Girl Scouting is a primary concern of all adults in Girl Scouting.  As we must consider “safety first”, we need to apply the same procedures recommended in “Safety Wise” to non Girl Scouts and tag-alongs, not only at our events, but also for our own children who may come to our SU meetings or troop meetings.  In order to avoid injury, we feel it is necessary to define guidelines for SU meetings.  Please do not allow any children at any time to be unsupervised.

If possible, please avoid bringing your children to Service Unit meetings.  Check with other troop parents to provide babysitting or have another leader or parent attend the Service Unit meeting in your place.

If children must be brought to a meeting, then the following guidelines apply:

Children under the age of 10 must be with parent or other responsible party (i.e. older sibling).

Children 10 and over may sit on the floor at the rear of the meeting room.

Children are not allowed in the playground or on the play structure of Crossbend Christian Church.

Children are not allowed in areas of the Crossbend Christian Church other than where the meeting is being conducted.

Children are not allowed to be unattended in the parking lot.

Quiet activities should be provided for your children so they can avoid distracting people attending the meeting.

Older Girl Scouts aged 11 – 17 acting in leadership positions are excluded from these guidelines.

Leader’s Meetings are a great once-a-month resource.
